Do you have a blog in you?

Members of the North Devon Business Alliance can use this website to write a blog or series of blogs to promote them selves and their websites.

What is a blog – type that into Google and it comes up with the following:-

  • Noun – A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.
  • Verb -Add new material to or regularly update a blog.

So, the website www.ndba.org.uk is the noun although recently the regular basis has been a bit irregular :-) and the verb is down to you!

Last year we had a series of awards, one of which was a blogging award, and I hear on the grapevine that we will be running awards for 2013 and yes, blogging is likely to be one of those awards again!

So, let’s get cracking and find something to blog about – we all have a blog in us – give it a go, it can be fun and it can also be rewarding – don’t forget to put a link at the end of the blog back to your own website, after all, you want to encourage people to go have a look!

Kevin Woodward is co-founder of the NDBA and writes blogs over at Devon Social Media, on his own website Multiheat, and of course here at NDBA!

Do you blog?

Last year the North Devon Business Alliance (NDBA) ran an Award evening and one of the best contested Awards was the Blogging Award, which was won by Elaine of Convallis Software. It is great to see her blogging on her own blog-site as well as continuing to contribute to Devon Social Media & here on NDBA’s website!

Blogging is a great way to talk about your expertise without actually trying to “sell” what you do, and with many aspects of marketing yourself works best if you blog regularly!

Here on the NDBA website we encourage our members to blog as often as they wish – a member benefit – but surprisingly few do! Why, well probably they have their own website that needs regular blogging and they see this website as a competitor to their own website, or they are just too busy to find the time to add another website to their already busy schedule!

It is worth the effort though, this website appears quite high in google listings for relevant content, the strange mix of blogs from different members keeps the interest going and draws readers in that may other wise not head over in this direction.

So, members, go on have a go, not a member, well it only costs £15 a year to be a member, and you can blog away to your hearts content!

Are you the North Devon Online Business of the Year 2012?

It seems to be the season for awards at the moment in North Devon. As well as the NDBA’s own awards, the North Devon Journal Business Awards are also running. The NDBA is very pleased to sponsor the NDJ’s Online Business of the Year category for the second year running.

The NDBA is sponsoring the category because we realise just how important the internet is to businesses in North Devon and we want to recognise those businesses who are using it effectively.

So if your North Devon business runs an online shop or uses the internet as the basis for its business, please do enter the Online Business of the Year category of the North Devon Journal Business Awards. The deadline has now been extended to Friday 28 September 2012.

And why not look at the other 12 categories of the NDJ Business Awards?

We look forward to seeing you on the awards night.

PS Don’t forget the NDBA Awards as well. Could you win in both?
