January #NDBA #NDevon lunch

What a great turnout, we had 23 attendees for our first lunch of 2012.

A few mentions – it was great to see both Polly & Molly from Pollyclinics in Mill Road who were enthusing over the infrared heating panels that have been installed for their hot yoga classes!

It was also good to see our accountants finding time from their January 31st deadlines to pop in for a bit of relaxation, Sadie Procter, James Hellyer & new member Kate Parsons.

It was also good to see Ian Starling from The Voice North Devon’s own radio station – currently online and soon to be on FM.

A good turnout of twitter folk – star attraction was Taxi Anne – attending her first ever business networking event – go on give her a follow – I hope we didn’t put her off coming back.

Some of our regulars deserve a mention too – Lance Rice, Graham Lofthouse, Barbara Fryer, Robert Zarywacz, Jimmy Jewel, Gloria O’Connel, Elaine Isaacs to name a few!

To find out what these people do, and to network in an informal atmosphere, why not come along to our next lunch – at Serendipity in Bideford on 24th February. It is important to book first as numbers for this event will be limited to 20!

It really is informal, no elevator speeches to give, as it is all about talking to people to find out what they do, rather than being told! It all adds to the atmosphere!

Contact me, Kevin the number on our home page to book your space.

If you would like to receive our monthly newsletter please also contact me, as it will remind you each month what is happening in and around North Devon, and where each month’s lunch will be!

I hope to see you there

Kevin

Local Radio – The Voice – You Can Own It !

Whether you liked Lantern FM or not, whether you liked the music or not, whether you liked the presenters  or not – no one can argue the fact that for many years Lantern FM was truly local radio for North Devon.

In March 2009 the name Lantern FM disappeared from the dial to be replaced by a North Devon
version of Heart, subsequently all the local North Devon output was taken away in Aug 2010 – all the office and presentation staff lost their jobs – when the “new enhanced” Heart Devon wide service started

Since June 2010 – I have campaigned to bring back Local Radio to North Devon. You might
not like the Voice, you might not like all the presenters, you might not like all the music, but one thing you will agree on – it will be local. In fact more local that Lantern FM was. We will be a community radio station – with local news, local business news, local networking members, we will train new presenters whatever age, we will be the VOICE for North Devon. Keep updated via
our website www.thevoicefm.co.uk and if you can support financially or via mentions on social media – everything helps

OFCOM to announce our result end of January 2012

My Love for Radio …So Why The Voice?

It seems strange now. A part time parcel courier – now at the forefront of a campaign
that affects every day life.

Since June 2010 my life has become like one of the rollercoasters you see in an amusement
park. Big highs, deep drops, fast curves and unexpected turns

I have always loved radio since I was a teenager. Local radio to be exact. I owned it,
it owned me. It’s my trusted media source. The weather, the school closures,
the traffic reports

In 1981 I fell in love with radio, by 1994 I started as a volunteer at Lantern FM and now
I am volunteer at my own station – The Voice.

North Devon has so much to offer, a wealth of musical talent, thousands of tourists come
each year and we have nothing to shout out how good we are. No local radio
station. That’s not fair in my book.

I want to give North Devon – you – your Voice back
