This weekend we get 2 public holidays to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. Well the Monday is a delayed bank holiday which should have been earlier this week & the Whitsun bank holiday but to make it easier on everyone they changed that to this weekend, so that we get to celebrate for four days!
The Queens father died on the 6th February 1952, so our Queen was technically Queen from that date, so why didn’t we celebrate this in February?
I believe the Queen was crowned on 2nd June 1953, so actually we’re about a year early and should be celebrating next year!
I’m all for celebrating, I do not need much of an excuse to have a good party, but I am a bit confused as to why we are celebrating this event this weekend – can anyone enlighten me?

As I understand it, the Jubilee was actually in February but the celebrations were delayed until June to avoid bad weather. Didn’t work so well, did it?
